The deadline for our fall term Celebrity Online Scholarship Program is August 3. Learn more and apply today.

Designed to reward and assist outstanding online students who demonstrate superior performance studying in Certificate Programs at Berkleemusic, these quarterly scholarships are awarded in the name of renowned music education champions. This term’s scholarships are named in honor of Alf Clausen, BT, Juan Luis Guerra, and Patty Larkin.

The student recipients of each Celebrity Online Scholarship will receive an award of $1,250 to be used towards paying their tuition and helping them achieve their goals.

The Summer 2008 scholarship honorees and recipients were:

• Glen Ballard: Cindy Nelson, Vincent Russo, Frederico Oliveira, and Ronald Berard
• Gloria Estefan: Alberto Ramirez, Ileana Palmieri, Stephanie Rosario, and Evangelos D. Karageorgelis
• Mark Mothersbaugh: Bob Strenger, Tyler Erlandson, Jiri Janis, and Michael Paduano
• Steve Vai: Andrew Bonica, Kathleen O’Halloran, Michael MacDonald, and Shane Flail

We figured we could use a dedicated spot where we could drop current events, new course announcements, site updates, and whatever else out to all of you.

We had the pleasure of interviewing Devo’s Mark Mothersbaugh a few months back in his Mutato Musika studio in LA. Mark is sensational - a great conversationalist, whip smart, and completely entertaining. And Mutato is like a wonderland of interesting gear - stringed instruments we did not know existed, unusual percussion devices, and tons of vintage keyboards and synths.
